The 19th century in Brussels: 1881

Really a “difficult” year. The only traces that I could find of 1881 in Brussels’ streets were two plaques on former artists’ houses.

The first indicates the house where flemish painter Léon Spilliaert (bron in 1881) had his last workshop. The house in located close to Avenue Lepoutre in Ixelles.

The second one can be found in Rue Saint-Bernard, where Jef Lambeaux, a sculptor, set up his workshop in 1881.
