The 19th century in Brussels: 1861

1861 is another “difficult” year. I did not manage to see a house with the that year depicted in the façade.

I saw the year 1861 displayed in two memorials. The first is about the José Rizal, the Philippine’s independence hero.  He was born in 1861. (see also my post on 1896).

The other two pictures are from the monument to Charles Rogier,  a Belgian statesman (see my posts on 1868 and 1885).

Interesting to note is that both, José Rizal and Charles Rogier, were free-masons.
