The 19th century in Brussels: 1879 (continued)

This is a house, located close to the Rue de Parme in Saint-Gilles, displaying the year 1879. In my previous post on 1879 I mentioned that I did not find a house displaying that year. In fact this was not correct.

The “pignon” (gable roof) of this house, of a clear Flemish neo-renaissance style, is beautifully decorated. Worthwhile mentioning is that the numbers are made of a delicate wrought iron work, proof of the know-how and craftsmanship of blacksmiths of the 19th century.
