The years before World War I: 1903

In 1903 the Belgian writer George Siménon was born in Liège. That year Pope Leon XIII died. He was nuntio in Belgium from 1843 to 1846. The Nunciature where he lived during his stay in Belgium is located in the “Grand Sablon”. A plate can be seen in the façade of that house remembering this episode in the life of the Pontif.
